I led the engineering of a diverse portfolio of beauty technology products, taking designs from napkin sketches to mass production at our company-owned factory in China. As the primary engineer, I owned mechanical, electrical, and firmware development, frequently traveling on-site to accelerate development and resolve issues. Beyond product design, I streamlined operations by overhauling the part numbering system to synchronize engineering data (Eagle) with our ERP (NetSuite). Here are a sampleing of the projects I worked on:

CRUSH

Sole engineer for an AI voice recorder with 2,000+ users. Led the project from concept to production, managing hardware, firmware, and cloud infrastructure.

  • Hardware: Designed ESP32 PCB (4-layer), schematic, and injection-molded enclosure.
  • Firmware: Wrote C (ESP-IDF) for WiFi/BLE, audio recording, and haptic feedback.
  • Leadership: Hired and managed developers for React Native mobile and web frontend apps.
  • Frontend: Developed React Native mobile and web frontend apps.
  • Backend: Designed AWS/Vercel backend to store user data.

BEST Combs

Partnered with Ivan Zoot, renowned barber and educator, to design and launch a premium comb line with an innovative tooth design for the lowest-friction detangling experience possible. We launched with three combs — the Detangler, Styler, and Finisher.

RIKI SWEETHEART

Portable clip-on selfie light and makeup mirror with rechargeable battery and diffusion cover. This had a few fun new features:

  • 12 channel PWM Led controller so I was able to program each light to come on in sequence
  • Clip requiring a spring mechanism and foam padding for secure attachment
  • Also needed to design around many different phones and where the camera and sensors are located
  • Made the protective cover frosted to create a diffused light
